A Year Gone Already!

I can't believe that exactly one year ago, I was just getting settled into my new home in Florence, Italy. God, how time flies. It seems like just yesterday that I was waking up on my bumpy cot, running down the 8 flights of stairs, grabbing a cappuccino from the local cafe, and wandering around exploring the narrow cobblestone streets of Florence. I really do miss it.

I think I miss the fact that I didn't really have any responsibilities for 10 weeks. I didn't have to worry about a job and bill collectors couldn't find me! The biggest things I had to worry about then were what was I going to eat for lunch (or dinner), where should I explore today, and should I really go out with everyone tonight for the "5 shots, 5 euros" special at the sketchy bar down the street?

Now it's nothing but deadlines, traffic jams, work issues, family issues, and sleep deprivation. It's true the saying that "you don't know how good you've got it until it has gone and passed you". Ah memories! Like the corner's of my mind. Misty water-colored memories. Of the way we were.
